Happy Halloween!

We did a lot of learning through the fun of Halloween today.  We estimated candy corn and added numbers to solve a Frankenstein color by number.  We also did a haunted house ABC order and wrote our spelling words in Halloween colors.  To end our busy day, we ate Halloween cookies (Thanks to Aiden's family!) and decorated pumpkin cookies with frosting and sprinkles (Thanks to Mr. Hilton!).  It was a great day and I hope you all had a great night as well.

A Special Guest Reader and Pumpkin Project!

Today we had a special guest reader, Maia!  She is a former student... now a big second grader!  She did a fabulous job reading to us!

We also used our leftover pumpkin seeds from pumpkin week for a special project.  We glued them around as a picture frame for our fall pictures.  We'll let them dry at school and then they'll be coming home :)

Halloween Safety!

We talked about Halloween safety today. Here is what we learned:

- Always stay with a grown up.
- Don't eat candy unless your parents say you can.
- Put a flashlight next to your pumpkin instead of a candle.
- If you are in pitch black, always have a flashlight.
- Don't wear a mask, paint your face instead.
- Never go trick or treating by yourself. Stick with an adult.
- Wear glow tape if it's dark.
- Always have a basket to hold your candy.
