Monday!

What we've learned today:

- Plants need soil, air, sunlight, and water.
- In writing, we should not always color.  We need to write!
- Write nicely.
- In math, we learned 10 more and 10 less.
- We reviewed our mapping... we need to keep studying at home if you find a note in our folder.

Dance Party and Plants!

We had a great day today... finally a Thursday!!  Some of the kids' highlights from today were using the laptops to make a picture of a flower and labeling it's parts.  The students did wonderful with their computer skills.  Here's our bulletin board in the hallway displaying them:

Also, we had our dance party this afternoon!  It was so much fun, getting rid of some energy in a positive way.  Here are a couple pictures of us "getting down!"

Mapping Success!

This week, we split into two groups and did some mapping review while also making map puzzles.  The kids did such a fabulous job working together and practicing what we've learned.  This is one of my favorite pictures of the year :)  Unfortunately, it seems as though a stomach bug is going around again.  So, some of our friends are missing.

Some of My Favorite Boys :)

After a fresh snow, our class was the first out to recess this week.  Here's a picture of some of my favorite boys on top of "the big hill."  Hope everyone enjoyed the snow day!

Shelfari

You'll noticed I've added a Shelfari to the top of our blog.  I learned about this "gadget" when at a technology conference this fall and finally have had a chance to add it!  Thank goodness for snow days!  It's a free program through Amazon that you can put books you are reading or have read onto a shelf for you to keep track of and others to see.  You can also rate books and have online discussions with others about what you're reading (we won't get into that part!).  But I thought it was a neat way for you all to see the books we've been reading as a class.  I only added the last couple weeks, so our shelf is not too big yet.  I'll keep adding the best I can.  Hopefully this will be another way that you can begin discussions at home about what is happening at school.  Enjoy!

Winter Fun Day!

We had so much fun at our Winter Fun Day- or afternoon- last week!  I've finally taken the pictures off my camera and thought I'd post a few for you.  Of course, the hill was pretty fast, so it was difficult to get action shots.  But I did my best!

Our Routine!

We finally stopped our work a little early today and had time to talk about what we learned.  I hope we can get back into this routine... it will be easier once we can leave our snowgear at home. :)  Today we learned:

- how to make connections with a book
- that making a neat math picture helps us count easier
- don't yell at our friends
- be nice
- work things out with each other
- all about question marks!

I hope this helps you talk to your child about their day!  Remember, tomorrow is an early release day.

Wacky Day at School!

- the word gym was upside down on the agenda
- we did reading before snack today
- reading and math were switched today
- many of us dressed wacky today!
- mapping on the agenda started on the right and went to the left
- some people wore mismatched shoes
- some people wore their shirts backwards
- our classroom was changed around!
- our snowmen pictures were upside down!

We thought Brooke was the wackiest, so Mrs. Gagnon took her picture!

Remember to read tonight!!  Our competition is still going :)
